Privacy Policy for RoomGuard — Hidden Camera Detector
Last Updated: September 10, 2026
Effective Date: September 10, 2026
Welcome to SpySight (package identifier com.arisoftware.roomguard), developed by Ari Software ("we", "us", or "our").
Your personal privacy and digital safety are the foundational reasons this application exists. We believe that counter-surveillance tools must themselves be beyond reproach. This Privacy Policy details our strict zero-telemetry, 100% on-device architecture, explaining how device permissions and hardware sensors are utilized solely on your local device without any remote transmission.
1. Summary: Our Core Privacy Commitments
• Zero Data Collection: We do not collect, harvest, store, or transmit any personal information, account credentials, or device identifiers.
• 100% On-Device Processing: All sensor processing, camera computer vision analysis, and local network evaluations run exclusively on your device's local CPU and GPU.
• Zero Cloud Servers & Telemetry: We operate no remote backend servers, log no IP addresses, and embed zero third-party tracking, analytics, or advertising SDKs.
• Volatile Camera Memory: Video frames streamed through CameraX are processed strictly in volatile RAM and immediately discarded. The app never saves, records, encodes, or uploads photos or video streams.
• Local-Only Storage: All scan session logs, notes, and user preferences remain stored locally on your phone within a private SQLite database. You have full control to clear this data at any time.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, share, or sell:
• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contact details.
• Photos, audio recordings, or video recordings.
• Precise or approximate GPS location coordinates.
• Unique persistent hardware identifiers (IMEI, MAC address, Android Advertising ID).
• Web browsing history, network traffic, or application usage data.
• Crash logs or behavioral telemetry.
3. Device Permissions & How They Are Used
SpySight requests only the minimum Android runtime permissions required to perform physical counter-surveillance screening:
A. Camera (android.permission.CAMERA)
• Purpose: Powers the Optical Lens Glint Scanner (detecting retroreflective camera lens curvature via synchronized flash differencing) and the Infrared (IR) Night-Vision Check (inspecting darkened rooms for active 850nm/940nm illuminator LEDs).
• Handling: Frames are analyzed in volatile memory buffers for optical retroreflection or infrared glow clusters and recycled immediately. No pictures or videos are ever written to disk or transmitted over any network.
B. Flashlight (android.permission.FLASHLIGHT)
• Purpose: Strobed during optical sweeps to illuminate retroreflective lenses. Automatically turned off whenever a scan is paused, completed, or when leaving the screen.
C. Wi-Fi & Local Network (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, INTERNET)
• Purpose: Powers the Local Area Network (LAN) Device Audit to identify devices sharing your current authorized Wi-Fi network.
• Handling: The app sends basic local ICMP/TCP ping requests across your private subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254) to check for open surveillance streaming ports (RTSP 554, ONVIF 8000) and matches hardware MAC addresses against an offline database of camera vendors. SpySight never accesses public internet servers or intercepts external web traffic.
D. Approximate / Fine Location (android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION)
• Purpose: Required by Android 8.1+ to read the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) of the local network you are connected to.
• Handling: Used solely to confirm your local subnet boundary. GPS coordinates are never accessed, queried, or logged.
E. Magnetometer & Hardware Sensors
• Purpose: Reads your smartphone's onboard magnetometer sensor at 50Hz to measure localized magnetic flux density (µT or mG) and flag abnormal electromagnetic field (EMF) spikes caused by unshielded electronics, wire coils, and camera transformers. All baselining and filtering occur purely in local memory.
F. Vibration (android.permission.VIBRATE)
• Purpose: Provides optional haptic feedback when anomalous magnetic spikes or retroreflective glints are encountered. Can be disabled anytime in Settings.
4. Local Data Storage & User Control
Any data created while using SpySight is stored exclusively on your physical device:
• Scan History: Date, room type (e.g., Hotel Room, Dressing Room), checklist items inspected, and aggregated screening verdicts.
• Settings: Selected measurement units (µT vs mG), glint sensitivity thresholds, and theme preferences.
Data Deletion:
You can permanently delete your scan history at any time directly inside the app (History → Clear All), or by clearing the app's data in Android Settings → Apps → SpySight → Storage → Clear Data. Uninstalling the app permanently purges all local data.
5. Third-Party Services & SDKs
SpySight contains zero third-party advertising SDKs, zero analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Flurry, or Mixpanel), and zero crash-reporting services that transmit background telemetry. The application is completely self-contained and operates 100% offline.
6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
Because we collect zero personal data from any user, SpySight is fully compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Article 8 of the GDPR. We do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU).
7. Important Limitations Disclosure
SpySight is an ethical screening aid and educational tool. No smartphone software or consumer sensor array can guarantee 100% detection of all covert surveillance hardware. Powered-off devices, shielded electronics, and non-reflective pinholes require physical tactile inspection. SpySight does not jam, disrupt, or disable third-party electronics.
